Tom Boutureira, Executive Director

Tom BoutureiraPrior to the DCC, Tom was the Executive Director of Great Auk Land Trust. From 2003-2007 he served as a rural natural resource volunteer with the United States Peace Corps in Bolivia. As a result of his successful service, he was invited to work as a technical specialist for the Peace Corps Natural Resource Management Program in Cochabamba, Bolivia. Tom’s previous experiences include working as a conservation organizer with the Sierra Club in Maine, trail steward and operations assistant at Little Lyford Pond Camps, and as a watershed investigator with the Maine Department of Conservation.  He is a graduate of the University of Maine at Machias.  Tom lives on a small farm with his wife Chloe and two children, Arlo and Darwin.

Alan Brooks, Stewardship Director

Alan BrooksAlan Brooks helped found the Quoddy Regional Land Trust in 1987 and served as its Executive Director until the creation of the Downeast Coastal Conservancy in August 2009. As DCC's Stewardship Director, he is responsible for overseeing the management of DCC's fee-owned conservation properties and the monitoring and enforcement of its conservation easements. Alan has also worked as a paralegal for Pine Tree Legal Assistance and as Administrative Assistant for the Town of Whiting. Before moving to Maine in 1980, he worked for the British Trust for Conservation Volunteers in London, England for five years and, before that, as a volunteer for the Massachusetts Audubon Society. He has a BA from Swarthmore College in Pennsylvania. Alan lives in Lubec with his partner, Nancy Nielsen, a co-founder of QRLT and its first easement donor. He spends his spare time gardening, birdwatching, and writing the occasional poem.
